BDB announces the appointment of Mr. Ali Al Aradi as Chief Banking Officer. Al Aradi has almost 19 years of experience in Banking field. He worked at Standard Chartered, Ahli United Bank, BMI Bank, and Al Salam Bank. Prior joining BDB he worked as Acting Head of Retail Banking since November 2021, and Head of Branches and Sales in Retail Banking for Bahrain Islamic Bank from October 2018. BDB Supports the National Afforestation Campaign “Forever Green”
The Bahrain Development Bank Group have contributed to supporting the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green” launched by the National Initiative for Agricultural Development in partnership with several relevant institutions. The campaign aims to plant over 50,000 trees in 27 sites in different governorates, on an area covering more than 70,000 square meters at a total cost of more than half million Bahraini dinars. The campaign aims to expand the green area in the kingdom to protect the environment and reduce the climate change effects.

Bahrain Development Bank Continues record of growth in business & profits
Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), the Kingdom’s development bank and leading provider of financial and incubation services to SME’s continued its relentless support for the sector. For the HY ended June 30, 2021, the Bank extended 281 financing facilities aggregating to BD 9.6 million of which 81 were for new units. In addition, the bank allowed deferment of instalments to 585 customers amounting to BD 48.2 million in line with CBBs guidelines.

BDB Continues Support of SME Sector through the Pandemic
Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), the Kingdom’s specialist Bank for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), emphasized its commitment to continue supporting the SME sector on the path to recovery from the global pandemic. The Bank announced that during the first quarter of 2021 it has extended 153 financing facilities to new and existing SME’s. These facilities totaling to BD 6.09 million are expected to facilitate the creation of 100 new jobs.

Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), the Kingdom’s premier SME Bank, announced that it has achieved positive results and strong growth again in 2020, posting a net profit of BHD 563K despite the years’ challenging economic and credit environment, During the year, the bank significantly stepped up its financing activity to support SMEs with total disbursements increasing by 179% to BHD 106 million (2019 BHD 37.9 million).The Bank was also a focal point for assisting SMEs under the Government’s Liquidity Support Scheme.

BDB Reports 274 pc jump in Disbursement
BDB significantly stepped up its financing activity to support SMEs during the year with total disbursements increasing by 274% to BD 96.4 Million in the first nine months compared to BD 25.8 Million during similar period in 2019. The Bank posted a profit of BD 1.063 Million in the first 9 months of 2020 compared to BD 1.017 Million in the same period in 2019. BDB in Collaboration with CrediMax Launch “Point of Sale Assignment” to Support Start-ups & SMEs
Manama 15.4.2019: Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) announced the launch of Point of Sales Assignment in collaboration with CrediMax. With a view to further support Start-up and SME’s, BDB has entered into a collaboration with CrediMax to be able to obtain “POS Assignment on card receivables.” This would provide credit mitigation and facilitate provision of financing to SMEs who are unable to provide other forms of security. The Point of Sale Assignment can be used by retailers and service providers that accept debit and credit cards as a mode of payment, to enhance the security package that is required for raising finance by simply assigning their point of sale sales proceeds to BDB.

Bahrain Development Bank launches $100m Venture Capital Fund
The Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) has launched a $100 million Venture Capital Fund of Funds aimed at boosting the start-up ecosystem in Bahrain and the Middle East. The fund was set up following instructions from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB). The Al Waha Fund of Funds will invest in venture capital funds that have a presence in Bahrain – providing additional capital to funds supporting start-ups in Bahrain and across the Middle East, said a statement.
